A new expedient we hear has been mentioned for supplying his Majesty's navy, by impressing all the young men who are found in disorderly houses at unseasonable hours; who shall either be obliged to serve in person or find proper substitutes in their stead: married men, and others turned of forty, are not only liable to the same conditions, but to forfeit 40 shillings to the poor of the parish they shall be seized in; and the keepers of all such houses will be obliged to pay a fine of ten pounds for every woman of bad character they admit, or suffer three months imprisonment. By this means those seminaries of vice which either the utmost vigilance of the present laws cannot, or the negligence of certain people in commission will not suppress, may be totally removed; and till so salutary an end is completely effected, add not a little to the peace of that public which they are so greatly calculated to disturb.
