FIRE.

Fires have become quite fashionable among us, this Winter. On Monday evening, about 8 o'clock, a fire broke out in the Providence Screw Factory, Randall street; which at first, threatened destruction to that establishment, and the adjoining buildings.-

But, by the promptness and energy of our Firemen, and the good fortune of having a plentiful supply of water at hand, the ravages of the flames were confined mostly to the roof and attic of the Factory.-

We have not learned how the fire was communicated, nor the amount of loss sustained; but presume the fire was accidental, and that the machinery was saved, though probably damaged. The way the water was showered on and into the building, resembled something Celestial.
