Yesterday, being the last Wednesday in May, WAS the ANNIVERSARY ELECTION, in the Massachusetts Commonwealth. On that day the General Court and Senate, assemble, and appoint their president, speaker, and governor's council; and proclaim who, by the returned votes, are appointed governor and lieutenant-governor. On this solemn occasion there is a sermon preached, at which the legislature attend, and generally a crowded audience; and the independent companies, on this day, generally parade, escort the legislature, etc. The proceedings on that day will be contained in next Thursday's paper.
