In New York BANDLEADER SONNY THOMPSON SAYS ONE-NITE ALL-STAR SHOWS KILLING SMALL ORKS

NEW YORK - (ANP) - Band-leader Sonny Thompson said last week that the super all-star shows making one-night stands around the country are killing chances for small bands and singers to make good.

Thompson said that when small groups, like his own six-piece jazz group, follow a name attraction fronted by an Eckstine or a Nat Cole all the money for entertainment has already been milked out of the city and people fail to show up to hear the group that doesn't have a big name.
