ROOSEVELT LEADERS
APPEAL TO CUMMINS

Want Presidential Nominee to Go To
Chicago or Retire—Refuses to
Do Either

Des Moines,
Iowa, June 10. —A
special to the Daily Tribune, says:

The task of working for delegates
between Roosevelt and Taft can be
judged from the fact that Sen.
Cummins has been receiving appeals
by telegraph to go to Chicago. These
appeals have come from Sen. Borah
Dixon, and other Roosevelt leaders.

The Roosevelt leaders want Cummins
to retire, Cummins has refused to go
to Chicago, or retire.

Senator Cummins believed now that
he has entered the race and if there
should be a deadlock, he cannot just-
ly be asked to retire now. He does
not care to have it said that he enter-
ed as a stalking horse.
