Central's General Passenger Agent Before Effingham Court.
General Passenger Agent J. C. Haile of the Central will go up to Guyton Monday morning to appear before the county court of Effingham county.
Mr. Haile, it will be recalled, has a warrant entered against him on the docket, charging a misdemeanor in running an excursion train through Effingham on Sunday. The warrant was sworn out about three weeks ago by a young lawyer, who wants to make a test case of the matter. His action, whether it results in his being sustained, will give him some notoriety.
Capt. H. C. Cunningham, of the firm of Lawton & Cunningham, attorneys for the Central, will go up with Mr. Haile.
The train that has gotten Mr. Haile upon the docket was run from Savannah to Augusta, and was very successful as an excursion, being the first of the season the Central had taken out of Savannah. The general passenger agent was arrested by an officer from Effingham county, who came down to serve the warrant. President Comer of the Central stood surety for Mr. Haile's appearance in the sum of $200.
