The newly appointed officers of the city of New York served the supersedeas on the late incumbents rather prematurely. They assembled at the City Hall for the purpose of being legally inducted into their respective offices, when, to their astonishment, no man was found in commission who possessed authority to administer the oaths of office required by law: By this circumstance, the newly appointed Magistrates were greatly chagrined; and the city is left in a kind of a state of interregnum—without a Mayor, without a Recorder, without a Clerk, &c. &c.

The New-York Council of Appointment have ousted, in addition to Mr. Clinton, Mr Hoffman the Recorder, Bailey the Health Officer, and all the Officers, Auctioneers, Port Wardens, &c. of the city of New York.
