The Dade County Commissioners have adopted a resolution endorsing the Miami-Key West inland waterway, according to word received today by City Manager Ralph D. Spalding.

A letter received by the manager from B. R. Kessler of the Atlantic and Gulf Canals Association, Inc., said that the canal, which needs deepening and improving from Miami to Key West, had also been endorsed by Manager Hart of Miami.

Kessler said that Hart would present the proposal to the Miami City Commission in a few days, and that undoubtedly it would likewise endorse the building of the canal.

It was also stated by Kessler that shortly he will present the proposal to the National Rivers and Harbors Congress.

Kessler, saying he was in close touch with the U. S. Engineers office at Jacksonville, will see to the preparation of estimates of the cost of building the canal to Key West, in order that Congress may shortly be asked to make the necessary appropriations.

The full development of Larson Bight in Key West depends very much on a favorable reaction of Congress to the appropriation for the canal work. It was estimated some years ago that the canal could be completed as far as Key West for about $2,500,000. The costs today would be considerably higher.
