Full Text
To the Herald,
As the dew on the roses:
The star on the sea
So the mantle of beauty
Hath fallen on thee!
And there may it rest like a rose on the spray,
Which glitters and shines as it sweetly reclines
On the bosom of morning
To welcome the day.
When the moon in the heaven
Is casting her light,
And the stars shine around her
As gems of the night—
When breezes are fanning the slumbering tree—
While softly they're sighing as sweetly they're dying,
I will think of thee,
And dream but of thee,
