A Chance for Tionesta.

The citizens of Titusville are talking very loud of building a narrow gauge railroad from that place to the new oil field in Warren county, the route to be either up East Hickory creek, or by the way of Tidioute. There are several roads surveyed and partly graded leading from Titusville, and among them is the old Pennsylvania Petroleum road which was originally intended to run to Pithole. This route could easily be changed to run through this place, up Tionesta creek to Minister, thence to the big wells in Cherry Grove township, and the road could be built at a moderate cost on account of the remarkably easy grade up the creek. It would be a standard gauge, and would not depend entirely on the oil interests to keep it up, as the vast lumber, bark, and mineral resources of that section would be tapped and furnish an immense traffic. The road need not necessarily stop at Titusville but could be built to Erie, where it was originally intended to run and thus furnish an outlet to the great lakes. With a proper effort put forth by our citizens, now that the boom is upon us it is thought by men who are posted that the scheme could be carried through easily. Let our capitalists give the matter prompt attention and strike while the iron is hot. It would be the making of Tionesta and would prove of greater benefit to the county in general than any railroad within our borders. The golden opportunity should by no means be overlooked by our business men.
