Meyer Botvich of 15 Rose street took in Samuel Bloom. a carpenter in the employ of Charles Ratner, to board Saturday. Botvich had a $50 check, a note and $22 in bills in his pocketbook. which he carried in his trousers pocket Sunday night when he went to bed. He rolled up his trousers and put them under his pillow. At 5 o'clock yesterday morning he heard Bloom go out, He got up and went into the kitchen, where he found his trousers lying on the floor. The pocketbook was gone. At 7 o'clock Bloom returned. Meanwhile Detective Sergeant Cowles had been notified of the loss, and he arrested Bloom at 8 o'clock. Bloom said he went out early to see a man. No money was found on him, but he was held until to-day. Bloom came here from New York a month ago.
