BOSTON, January 18.

Extract of a Letter from a Gentleman at Newport, to his Friend here.

We have Letters from Capt. Simmons, dated St. Croix, who writes us, that he was taken in a Calm by the Boats of two Dutch Sloops from Port au Prince bound to Curacao; who in a piratical Manner stripped him and his People of all his Clothes, Chests, Bedding, &c. After taking the Master and all his People out, sent the Vessel to Port au Prince for Condemnation, which they told him they would not have done, if they lived there, or he had not belonged to the English.
