Reviews and Balls."

Gen. Grant, it would seem, is opposed to dress parades and dancing parties in the face of the enemy. The Washington correspondent of the New York World relates an incident showing forth this fact:—

"The following conversation took place at Willard's to-day, between the General and a lady stopping at the hotel:

Lady—"General, take me with you to the review to-morrow."

Grant—"Madame, I cannot allow a review; I have sent to the front to say so."

Lady—"Well, I will go to the ball next week."

Grant—"There will be no more balls; they wouldn't have had any if I had been here."
