BALTIMORE, July 27.

The benevolent and brave Nobleman, the Marquis de la Fayette, who hath so often distinguished himself as the friend of the United States, passed through this town on his way to Mount Vernon, near Alexandria, the seat of the most honorable George Washington, Esq; where he proposes, it is said, to remain a few days with that illustrious Patriot Citizen in his elegant and hospitable retirement; after which he will, we are assured, visit all the States in the Union. What must be the feelings of this Nobleman, on seeing a numerous people, lately in arms and under all the distresses of war, in the full enjoyment of peace and the blessings of independence, which he so anxiously and successfully labored to establish!
