THE CABINET MEETING.
The President's Advisers to Go On the Western Trip.
Only matters of routine administration were discussed at the regular meeting of the Cabinet yesterday. Interest was expressed by the President and Cabinet members in the news that Admiral Dewey had reached New York. Although none of the leading members of the Administration will attend the demonstration in New York, the President and his associates are planning to take part in the public welcome which awaits the Admiral in Washington.
Secretary Long, who has returned to Washington after a long absence, was present at the meeting. It was decided that every member of the Cabinet will accompany Mr. McKinley on his proposed trip, which will extend as far west as the Dakotas. Although the itinerary of the tour has not been arranged it has been decided to leave Washington on October 4, the day after the Dewey reception.
