We regret to learn that one of the Union
Line Stages from Philadelphia to New
York, was upset about ten o'clock on Saturday
night, near Kingston. There were
ten passengers in the Stage at the time,
including Captain Arthur Sinclair, of the
United States Navy, and lady, and Mr.
James and lady, of Richmond Virginia;
all of whom were severely injured, and
were compelled to remain at Kingston, &
procure medical aid. One of the ladies
had an infant in her arms, which fortunately
escaped without injury. The passengers
with great difficulty extricated
themselves from the coach, through the
windows. The horses stopt as soon as the
stage upset to which circumstance is attributed,
under Providence, the safety of
their lives.
We learn from several of
the passengers, who arrived in town yesterday
morning in the steam boat Bristol,
that the driver appeared to be intoxicated.
