GENTLEMEN,
This town received your favours of the 20th of November last, enclosing the votes and proceedings of the town of Boston, which in their opinion, in the most clear and conspicuous manner, hold up the rights of this people, and point out the many and flagrant violations, that have of late been made on the same. We take this opportunity to return you the sincere thanks of this town, for your zeal and attachment in the great cause of liberty.
We should be wanting to ourselves and to posterity did we not declare at this crisis our full approbation of your well concerted plan, to collect the general sentiments of the province on matters of so important a nature, and though you were first as your circumstances make it proper you should be, in expressing your mind; yet we must take so much to ourselves as to let you know that our breasts have long laboured with anxious distress for the welfare of our country, while we have seen one important privilege after another, cruelly wrested from us.
We think it high time that every free-man should with manliness and fortitude express his mind, and let every enemy to our free constitution and public peace, dread the resentment of an injured and provoked people.
As we are so happy as to unite with you in sentiment, we shall be at all times ready to join with the town of Boston, and every town in the province, in any lawful way with our utmost abilities, to accomplish a thorough redress of all grievances. Having nothing more at heart than to settle down quietly under the blessings of good government and submit to the same as becomes wise men and good Christians.
That the endeavours of all the good people of this province, may be rewarded by a thorough redress of all grievances, is the hearty wish of,
GENTLEMEN,
Your most humble Servants,
