It appears, that by the destruction of the Exchange Coffee house at Boston, the Masonic Institutions of that place, participated in the loss. An elegant Masonic Hall was constructed from the sixth and seventh story of this extensive pile of buildings. St. John's Lodge, held its regular monthly communication on the evening of the fire; and had just commenced their initiatory ceremonies when the alarm was given. The ceremonies were suspended, and great exertions were made to save the property of the several Lodges from destruction. The loss, however, must have been considerable, estimated at nearly three thousand Dollars. The Master's Chair, which was highly valued and venerated as a piece of antiquity, was destroyed, among other implements and ornaments of the craft. An elegant painting, by Penniman, was saved by the timely exertion of T. Power, Esq.

Boston, Nov. 12.

Exchange Coffee House.

The proprietors of the Exchange Coffee House, at a meeting holden on Tuesday last appointed the Hon. Wm. Gray and Samuel Brown, John D. Williams, William Payne and Daniel D. Rogers Esqs. a committee with authority to sell the land and remaining property of the corporation, and to close the concern. They generally voted to give to Mr. Baroum, the late keeper of the Coffee House, all the furniture belonging to the Corporation which was saved from the late fire. They also unanimously voted him their thanks for the excellent conduct by which he had obtained for the house so high a reputation while it was under his care.

We understand a company will probably be formed for the purpose of erecting a new building on the site of the late Exchange Coffee House. We presume however that no definite arrangement has yet been made on the subject. Until some substitute is provided for that useful building, the loss of it will be severely felt by the public. Besides affording accommodation to a large portion of the strangers who resort to this town, it served many important purposes for which no other place is so convenient. If the house should be rebuilt it will be undoubtedly on a plan very much improved, and perhaps so improved as to render the undertaking a profitable investment of property.
