The vote in this county is a little heavier than it was two years ago, but is still very light. The vote for Congressman two years ago was 3,604. In 1872 Whitthorne received 1,988, Gibbs 1,616. This time it will be nearly 4,000. In 1872 Morris 1,616. This year Whitthorne gets about 2,100, Blackburn about 950, and Gibbs about 400 with two districts to hear from, which will make it stand Whitthorne about 2,100, B. about 950 and G. about 400. The vote in 1872 for Whit. about 2,550, B. about 1,050 for Governor stood, Brown 2,054, Freeman 2,000. This year it stands, Porter 2,405, Maynard 1,315 with the two districts yet to hear from, which will give an aggregate vote of about 3,950, nearly equally divided, which will make Porter nearly 2,600 and Maynard nearly 1,500.
