BOSTON, March 3.

Late from England.

Last evening arrived here, the ship Polly, Capt. Chipman, from Liverpool, after a passage of 44 days. The latest London papers we have been able to procure, are down to January 8th; but they furnish nothing extraordinary. The debate in the British Parliament, on the assessed taxes, are very lengthy and spirited; but the bill which contemplates a triplication of the customary assessed taxes, passed by a majority of 125 Ayes 196. Noes 71.

The information of the late decree of the French government respecting English manufactures, had been received; and had excited much agitation. The result was to be expected—Convoys are to be granted to neutral vessels.

The Pacific Congress at Rastadt, has determined that the King of England shall relinquish all his possessions in Germany, and with his Electorate (Hanover) all his influence in the German Empire.

An augmentation of the British army has been made; and the navy daily increases in number and strength.—The ships of war, in commission, on the 1st January, 1798, amounted to 130 sail of the line, 18 fifty gun ships, 165 frigates, and 266 sloops of war. Total in and out of commission 746.
