Political Phariseeism.—There is a great deal of Pharisaism of the sort in the camp of those who plume themselves on their Democracy or Conservatism, and yet refuse to follow the glorious old leaders of the Democratic and Whig parties of Virginia in their support of a man who went loose from the Radical party when it became hopelessly corrupt. Are any of us better, more honest, or wiser, than Hunter, Stuart, Smith, Baldwin, Goode, Withers, Kemper, Marye, Letcher, Montague, Early, Leake, and many others who have heretofore served in the councils of the State and nation? All of these gentlemen have taken the field for Greeley and reform, and yet men of both the old parties to which they respectively belonged say they 'can't go for Greeley!' But they will let the negroes take the State out of our hands! They can 'go' that; Shame on them!—Lynchburg Virginian.
