Full Text

In forecasting the business of the coming session of Congress, the New York Herald says: "The army is likely to get another blow from the military failures who have managed to get into Congress, and have proved as much of an embarrassment to Congress as they were to the army. These disinterested patriots seem to take particular delight in attacking the army, as if that gallant and credible arm of the government was responsible for their own imbecility and deplorable worthlessness."

It is deplorable that such men as Butler and Schenck and Logan, and others of like character, who

Nor the divisions of a battle know
Never set a squadron in the field,
More than a spinster,

should beat and maltreat the reputation of old and experienced soldiers. But such is the mission of Radicalism.
