Unconsciously Awake
A rather curious subject perhaps, but it refers to the things we do every day that make us feel "knee- high to a grasshopper." We're awake, yes, our eyes are open, but we might as well be walking in our sleep, when we come to enough to realize the dumb act we've just put on. For instance, brushing your teeth with the shaving cream, or giving a hearty greeting to a fel- low, who you though was your neighbor but turned out to be a crook with a lifted face. Again, we have so much trouble with that collar that we forget the tie, and then do the walls resound. The worst example of this is a foot-ball player running toward his own goal line, in the clear, for a touch down. Our minds, concentrating on one thing while we're trying to do something else, are bound to cause us to do some silly act, after which we look around and wonder how many people were watching.
