Salem, (Org.) Dec. 6.

The greatest excitement prevails here to-night. An immense indignation meeting is now being held at the Opera House, and the Theatre is crowded to overflowing with a dense mass of indignant citizens. Congressman elect William Coghlan, of California, Judge Dolph, Dr. Watts, General Odell and others have addressed the meeting. Resolutions have just been passed denouncing the Governor and calling upon the Senate of the United States to prevent him from taking his seat on the ground that he has to-day willfully violated his oath. Prominent Republicans advise a calm expression of public opinion, and it is now thought no outbreak will occur.
