A fatal accident recently occurred in Johnson county, by which William Rivers, an industrious young man, lost his life. The Examiner says, a tree had been lodged, and for the purpose of bringing it down, another was cut to fall across the first, but the lodged tree resisting the weight of the falling one, the latter glanced down the trunk of the other, caught Rivers within its sweep, fracturing one leg, dislocating the opposite ankle, and producing severe contusions on the head and body. Surgical aid was procured in all haste; but to no purpose. The young man remained speechless until he expired.
