MEMPHIS, Tenn. (ANP)— A Negro driver of an automobile involved in a highway wreck near Ellendale in which four whites were killed last week will be charged with manslaughter, Sheriff Thompson declared here this week.
Besides the four dead whites, the driver, Willie Eaton and three Negroes were hospitalized after the collision which occurred on Palm Sunday.
Eaton and the other Negroes were taken to John Gaston hospital. The injured were Mally Henard, 21, Margaret Mitchell, 30, and Roy Trudo, 39, all of Memphis. The two women were seriously injured.
Eaton drove a 1942 Ford. and the whites rode in a 1947 Oldsmobile. Both autos were traveling 40 miles an hour when the wreck occurred on Highway 70.
