Funeral services were held Monday for a 22-month-old Kreole victim of a Saturday automobile accident.
Dead is Debera Ann Jackson, daughter of the R. K. Jacksons of Meadowbrook subdivision near Kreole.
County Pin. O. F. Thornton said the child's head was crushed when she was thrown from one vehicle beneath another.
Thornton gave this account of the accident which occurred at Second Street and Pine Island Road in East Moss Point at 8:45 p.m.
The Jackson child was a passenger in a car being driven south on Second Street by Evelyn Greer, 29, of 706 McInnis Avenue, Moss Point.
Thornton said the Greer car struck the side of a vehicle going east on Pine Island Road.
Driver of the second auto was Donald Farris, 15, of Pascagoula.
Thornton said impact of the collision threw the Jackson child out of the Greer car and under the Farris vehicle. The child was taken to Singing River Hospital by a Fails Funeral Home ambulance.
The child was dead on arrival there.
Mrs. Greer and her son Kirby, 10, suffered minor lacerations. They were hospitalized and discharged Sunday after treatment.
Services for the Jackson child were held at Jackson County Mortuary chapel with the Revs. David Townsend, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, and Van Hardin, pastor of Moss Point First Baptist Church, officiating.
Jackson County Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Interment was in Three Rivers Assembly of God Cemetery near Wade.
The child is survived by her parents, a brother Frank Lewis Jackson, and paternal grandparents V. G. Jackson of Wade.
County coroner J. Leslie Nelson held an inquest Sunday.
A jury was composed of T. E. Green, R. H. Braswell, W. H. Pope, Jr., Lawton Crosby, Frank Ely and Foster Barrow.
H. D. Self, county sheriff's deputy, was bailiff. The verdict was death from an automobile accident.
Thornton was assisted in the investigation by Moss Point police officers and sheriff's deputies.
