Melting Silver in a Boy's Pocket.

Dixon, Ky., Rec'd.

Mr. Wade Bailey, of Sebree, was in town to-day, and tells of a very strange occurrence which took place in Sebree a day or two ago. Mr. Frazer gave his son a silver coin, a quarter, which he dropped into his pants pocket, and a short time afterward, desiring to make a purchase of some article, he took the money out to make the payment and found it to be so softened as to cause it to form a ball. The man the boy intended buying from would not receive the money. The boy then went to another store, and tried to pass the crippled coin, and being refused, he seemed to take the matter seriously, and the salesman asked him whose boy he was, and being told that he was Sam Frazer's son, the salesman said he would take the coin and give him back the change due him, as he wanted to joke Mr. Frazer for giving any one such money. The salesman gave him in change two silver dimes, and the boy went back to the first salesman and told him he had got his money changed and wanted to get the article he was looking at a while before. Producing the money, it was stuck fast together, and was soft. By this time the curiosity of the people became excited and they began to experiment. Shady Veazey gave him several silver quarters, which, after remaining in the boy's pocket for a few minutes, were removed in a shapeless condition and adhered to each other, resembling molten metal. Different persons gave him coins with like result. His pocket was examined by parties who could find nothing wrong. As the particulars were related to us so we have endeavored to publish them, and, Mr. Bailey being a gentleman well known and esteemed for truth and veracity, we make the publication.
