Full Text

Crops.—If the various persons in all parts of the State, who write to us, would add two or three lines concerning the state of or prospects for crops in their sections, it would confer a great favor on us. It would enable us to form and give a correct estimate of the agricultural resources and yield of our State.

And, in point of fact, this is of more real importance to the people than the maneuvers of a minority and majority in caucus, or the rise and downfall of politicians. It was Dean Swift, we believe, who said that he who causes two blades of grass to grow where but one grew before, is of more value than the whole race of politicians put together.

For ourselves, we would rather be the author of a good treatise on agriculture, than of the best political essay on centralism or any other political subject ever written. Among other things, we shall hereafter give more attention to the interests of education and farming. To do this we shall rely on our friends to furnish us with such information as they may have at their command.
