Helicopter, Ground Crew Look For Plane Pancaked In Smoky Mountains Near Tennessee-N. C. Border: 5 Aboard, Two Hurt

NASHVILLE, March 21. - A helicopter and a ground crew are searching for four of five men who were on a plane that pancaked atop a 3,400 mountain in the Smoky range along the Tennessee-North Carolina border.

The plane had five men aboard but one of them struck out alone to look for help. He walked 25 miles in 42 hours through woods and tangles of undergrowth before he found assistance. He said that two others were unhurt but that the other two were stretcher cases.

Volunteers were organized to go to the top of the mountain, and shortly afterward a helicopter took to the air to see if its pilot can locate the place where the plane fell.
