PARODY upon an old SONG.

I'm a man that would marry, O! could I but find
(I care not for riches) the girl to my mind.
Not the prude whose religion and virtue are prides,
Not her whose immodesty nothing can hide,
Not the belle of the city, with flattery blind;
Neither this, that, nor t'other, is the girl to my mind.
Not a Sappho devoted to writing and snuff.
Not the prattler who thinks he can ne'er talk enough,
Not the girl that's too forward, or lavishly kind;
Neither this, that, nor t'other, is the girl to my mind.
Not the Lady of fashion, a gameter, a rake,
Not the dull sleepy soul that no pleasure can wake,
Not her whose affections could vary like wind;
Neither this, that, nor t'other, is the girl to my mind.
But the girl who has beauty sufficient to please,
Whose passions are tender, whose heart is at ease,
Who has sense to correct all the faults she may find;
She, she, and no other, is the girl to my mind.
