Full Text

Letters from the Eastward.—We have been favored with several extracts of letters received by the last Eastern mails, informing that the Bonds which fell into the hands of the enemy when they took Eastport becoming due, the British had enforced payment, and the signers had been obliged to decamp, to save themselves from being sent prisoners to Halifax! The Town Major. with a party of 20 or 30 armed men, followed them to Lubeck, where they searched the house of Mr. Stearns, at midnight, after presenting a pistol to his breast! Such are some of the blessed effects of taking the 'oath of allegiance to his Majesty,' and becoming British subjects! The extracts are now in type, but want of room obliges us to omit them till Saturday.—Bot. Pat.
