BOSTON. October 12.

On Thursday Evening last were committed to his Majesty's Goal in Boston, Seth Hudson, and Joshua How, being charged with forging Treasurer's Notes; and on Saturday last were apprehended in the County of Worcester, Jacob Stevens, and Benjamin Fike, who were charged with being concerned in the Same, and are this Day expected in Town....Several forged Notes have been put off in this Town, to the Amount of about Eight Hundred Pounds.... To prevent further Impositions of this Kind, the following Account of said Notes is inserted.....All the forged Notes which have yet appeared, are every Way like the true Notes, save that the written Part is badly done. The Treasurer's Name appears at first Glance to be Genuine, but upon Examination is apparently laboured; being executed by laying a true Note over the forged one, and marking out the Name with some sharp pointed Instrument, so as to leave the Impression on the forged Note, and then filling up the Impression with Ink ; and in some of the forged Notes it is very distinguishable that the whole of the written Parts is traced out in the same Manner.
