COMMUNICATION.
It is recommended to every person who wishes to obtain correct notions of the intentions, views, and relative strength and weakness of the European nations, to read "The Politics of the Cabinets of Europe, during the reigns of Louis XV. and XVI." Count de Broglio, in a paper in that work, mentioning HOLLAND, observes, "that it fears every thing, complains of every thing, and defends nothing." Such appears to be the line of conduct which our Gallo-American democrats recommend to the United States: viz. "to fear France, to suffer every thing from France, to complain of every thing, and to DEFEND NOTHING." This is certainly a policy which would be very gratifying to France, but it is one which must soon reduce us to a complete dependence on France.
