(By request of the Committee.)
The Committee on Chemicals, Oils and Fertilizers, after a careful examination of the specimens of Fertilizers on exhibition, with their analyses, report that they are unable to make any just discrimination between them. The varieties submitted for inspection are all entitled to high commendation, and are worthy of the confidence of planters, by whom alone the question of their comparative value must be determined. The zeal and energy displayed by the contributors of these specimens, for the promotion of the agricultural interests of our State, entitle them to praise.
The Committee would urge upon the manufacturers and dealers in fertilizers the necessity for maintaining the high standard of excellence which the specimens before them exhibit.
The Committee award to Mrs. George Douglas, Union, for two plugs Opium, a silver medal. The quality of this opium is very superior.
To Dr. E. E. Jackson, Columbia, for best home-made Cologne, a silver medal.
