An article under New York head, of August 30, says "The schooner Fancy, in 11 days from Port Roseway, brings further intelligence of the flourishing condition of that settlement; and that before he sailed, four hundred framed houses were erected."
A Captain of a vessel, belonging to this town (who was at Port Roseway about the time in which the above pleasing intelligence is said to have been carried to New-York) informs, that a number of buildings at that place, which could, with any propriety, be denominated Houses, did not exceed Ten. The number of huts and tents amounted to upwards of 400.---The miserable inhabitants stare horribly at the sight of a citizen of the United States - The above Captain experienced the resentment of some of them; but being under a government used to their character, they are easily restrained by interposition of their masters.
