Dresden, (Saxony) July 18. An Austrian Hussar, belonging to General Haddick's Corps has deserted to us and given us a Packet which he was entrusted with by that General to General Serbelloni, by Means of which we have discovered a Scheme that our Governor has Sent to Prince Henry of Prussia: the Prussian Magazines, which the Count de Schmettau laid by the Enemy to seize on this City, and burn and in the mean Time is taking every possible Precaution to prevent it's being executed; yet we are under the utmost Apprehensions, as the Garrison is but of 6 Battalions; & we find that 10,000 Austrians are preparing to attack us in several Sides at a Time.

Dresden, July 18. Since the Discovery made by the Packet of Letters brought hither by an Austrian Deserter, the Count de Schmettau, our Governor, has added some Artillery to our Ramparts, and placed two large Pieces of Cannon with a Piquet of 50 Grenadiers very near the Royal Palace and the Romancatholic Church. The Court appearing greatly displeased at this Proceeding, and making Complaints on the Subject, were answered, that it was thought necessary to use such Precaution, because the Governor had Assurance from good Hands that this City contained a great Number of secret Partisans to the Austrians.
