LONDON, September.

Last week arrived in town very strong remonstrances from the northern colonies with respect to their stamped trade, by means of some late regulations in America: as did also several petitions from the British islands in the West Indies; all which are preparing by their respective agents to be laid before the ensuing Parliament.

It is said letters have been received from New-England, complaining, that if things do not speedily take another turn, with respect to a free trade in North America, due remittances from thence will not only be tardy, but in a great measure impracticable, as resolutions are taking in all the Colonies to prevent the exportation of silver to England, and gold they can have none from the Spaniards, as it seems that many Commanders on that station are resolved no body shall trade with that nation in America but K--'s ships.

Event Details

Remonstrances from northern colonies and petitions from British West Indies arrived in London concerning stamped trade and recent American regulations. Letters from New-England warn that without changes to North American trade, remittances will be delayed or impossible due to resolutions against exporting silver to England, lack of gold from Spaniards, and commanders restricting trade to King's ships only.
