"And God spake all these words saying . . . . Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor (Exodus 20:1, 16) The community of Statesboro, Brooklet and Bulloch County at large has forgotten this Commandment of God. Each week that passes there is a false rumor concerning some person or persons in these communities. It is high time that a return be made to the house of God and take heed to all of His Commandments. It matters not how well we keep the other Commandments or how good a woman or a man we "seem" to be in our immediate community, how much we contribute to the worthwhile causes, how loud or sympathetic we offer our prayers to our God, if we have been the means of a lie or any false rumor being spread in the community by discussion of our neighbor with some of our close friends, "Then We Are Guilty Or Innocent"

Bearing false witness is nothing more than speaking lies about some one. (Proverbs 6:16, 19, "These six things doth the Lord hate . . . A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.") Christ told the Pharisee see that in order for him to inherit eternal life he could not bear false witness (Matthew 19:18). "Thou shalt not bear false witness."

Our community will prosper when we have learned to do all things which will make for peace in the community. Lying tongues will not make peace. We need better Community relationships, better Sunday school attendance, a stronger and United Fellowship with the Brethren in Christ. We should not speak evil of any man or woman.
