Shows 80c Profit
Figures released this week by the planning committee show that Greenbelt's 1945 Town Fair broke even financially, with a margin of just 80 cents. E. DonBullian, treasurer, reported at a recent meeting of the planning committee that $1076.74 had been spent on the fair including the distribution of prize money. Anyone interested in the detailed report should contact Mr. DonBullian at 5936.
Although the original budget for the three-day annual show was under $500, increased receipts, including $100 appropriated by the Town Council, made possible cash prizes, entertainment, and the radio broadcast, all on a scale not anticipated in the earliest days of the committee's cautious planning, spokesmen for the committee announced.
The planning committee has assembled detailed files and recommendations which will be available for the 1946 Town Fair and will help lower costs. Members of the planning committee were Fred DeJaeger, C. J. VanCamp, Donald H. Cooper, Paul Dunbar, and Lester Sanders. More than a hundred other Greenbelters helped put on the free show for the largest crowd ever assembled in the town's history.
