Judge Vince Day addressed one hundred students of the Minneapolis Labor School at the Open House Party held at the School Headquarters, 243 Transportation Building Annex on Monday evening, October 11.
The students gathered to register for the Fall term of the school which opened on Tuesday, October 12. "Students registered for more subjects this year than they have in the past," said Miss Betty Hoff, Director of the Labor School. "Our new subjects are very popular."
Judge Day in giving the main address of the evening spoke on "Education and the Labor Movement."
"I am surprised at the enthusiastic response to the Minneapolis Labor School which I believe is fulfilling a definite need of the Minneapolis Labor Movement. The workers in Minneapolis need a place where they can come to freely discuss and analyze their problems. The working man today is seeking the truth."
George Neal of Engineers' Local No. 34 presided at the meeting, which was sponsored by the Minneapolis Student Association.
The instructors were introduced and spoke briefly on the subjects which they are teaching this year.
Refreshments were served in the library.
