True Charity.

A letter from Mr. J. A. Butler, says the Little Rock Gazette, published in the Republican, relates the following touching incident in the life of Mrs. Mary L. White, late wife of Hon. R. J. T. White:

I remember on one occasion a poor woman brought some whortleberries to her door, and my angel friend purchased them at the price asked. Then asked her how far she had walked. 'About nine miles,' responded the care-worn child of poverty! 'Then,' responded Mrs. W., 'you must have some dinner.' The fatigued woman ate, and asked for God's benediction upon the donor, and left for the city. Mrs. W. (God shield her memory) handed fifty cents to her son, and said, 'take this John, and overtake that poor woman, and tell her ma says she must take it.' The son obeyed, and made glad the sad heart.
