FOR THE SPIRIT OF THE AGE.

"SPIRIT LAND."

Spirit land! Spirit land! our hopes are in thee,
With our sister spirits passed away ;
Thou art dearer, far dearer, Oh : dearer to me,
Than all in this perishable clay.

There the rivers of pleasure forever o'erflow,
Upon angel and saint made happy;
To glad them, to glad them, released from below,
From the deep shades of melancholy.

We long to be there in the groves of bliss,
Reserved but for the faithful few,
Safe landed in Heaven, from a world like this,
With those who their duty do.

And oh! that each moment, each day that may come
May be spent in remembrance of Thee,
'Til we're wafted, gently wafted on the wings of love
To the "Spirit land" set free.
