HEAVY DUELS IN AMERICAN SECTOR

Germans Fire Hundred Shells In One Day and Use Gas and High Explosive Shells

Associated Press Dispatch.

With the American Army in France, Monday, Feb. 25.—Artillery duels in the American sector, northwest of Toul, are growing in intensity.

The Germans have fired a hundred or more shells during the past twenty-four hours.

Late this evening they began to bombard with gas and high explosive shells. American artillery replied constantly, doing effective work against the enemy first line trenches and battery positions.
