Full Text

Advices said to be received from Denmark assert that on Saturday June the 6th, towards the Evening, the whole Marine Corps in Garrison appeared in an Uproar; and as they knew that the King was to return that Evening from Charlottenbourg, they marched out of Copenhagen at the Easter Gate, in one regular Body, to meet him, where they presented a strong Remonstrance, insisting upon immediate Redress. The King, at first, expressed visible Marks of Fear; but attempting to speak in an authoritative Style, the Marine Corps peremptorily insisted upon an immediate Redress, to which, at last, the King thrice replied, that their Grievances should be instantly redressed. Notwithstanding the Declaration of the King, it was with the utmost Difficulty that they were appeased, and that his Majesty escaped with his Life.
