Full Text

On Sunday the 6th instant as Mr. WILLIAM JACKSON, of Norfolk, and another person, were bathing themselves in the river, the former, by venturing too far, and being unskilled in swimming, was unfortunately drowned, notwithstanding the readiness of the watermen in giving all possible assistance. As the time of his being under water did not exceed half an hour, the Gentlemen of the Faculty attended, and used every kind endeavour, but without any effect. The untimely fate of this young man is much to be lamented, as he possessed an uncommon share of benevolence, and many other excellent qualities, which cannot fail of making a lasting impression on all who were acquainted with him.
