$2,000 SECURED FOR MEMORIAL

FIRST GUN OF THE "SPECIAL CANVASS" -FOR MEMORIAL FUNDS IS "FIRED"

The first gun of the "special canvass for funds" for the West Virginia Soldiers' Memorial was "fired" Saturday, when a "flying squadron" of business men-ten teams of two workers each-- covered the business district.

They will make a report tonight at a special meeting of Ward leaders and other workers in the Rotary Club rooms.

It is understood that in pledges and cash they have secured approximately $2,000.

The house-to house canvass will start tomorrow at 10 a. m. The quota given is $1 for each grown person of each household, as a minimum, and as much more as each person is patriotically inclined to give. Women will aid in this work.

Wednesday will be Tag Day, when 50 pretty school girls will solicit donations from the general public
