ANNUAL ELECTION.

The Merchants' Mutual Insurance Co.

This staunch and reliable company held yesterday its annual election for a Board of Directors. This only because under the charter of the Company it is required to do so. We can hardly imagine anything which is more entirely a matter of form, not only with this successful, and in the last degree reliable, company, but in fact with all the companies composing that organization forming the New Orleans Board of Underwriters (who, by their liberal and wise policy in underwriting, have established a reputation second to none, not only in this country but also in Europe and upon the continent,) than this annual election for a Board of Directors. Still it has to be gone through with and so yesterday the stockholders and patrons of the company went to deposit their votes for the same gentlemen who during the past year have so successfully directed the affairs of the company. Here they are: P. Maspero, Edward Toby, S. Z. Relf, W. C. C. Claiborne, D. Fatjo, P. Fourchy, M. W. Smith, J. J. Fernandez, D. A. Chaffraix, J. M. Allen, Chs. Latitte.

No other ticket was thought of, but the unanimous vote of the friends and patrons of the merchants expressed to them yesterday their entire satisfaction with their conduct of the affairs of the company during the year gone by, and request them to assume charge of the same for the coming year.

As is usual on such occasions, the friends of the company found themselves invited to partake of something to take, and President Fourchy, with his genial secretary, Mr. Nott, not only made their guests the happy recipients of their kindly attention, but they were themselves made the recipients of the hearty good wishes of each of them for their continued good health and prosperity and the increasing prosperity of the company, whose affairs are so ably managed by them.
