Event Details
The new British Parliament is the fifth of Queen Victoria, and the seventh of the 'Re-formed' Parliaments. The average age of the last six has been about four years. The shortest, elected in 1832, lasted one year and eleven months only: the longest, which in 1841 placed Sir Robert Peel in power, lasted five years and eleven months. The late Parliament, elected in July, 1852, wanted a few months of being five years old on the day of its dissolution.
