FRIDAY MORNING, MAY 14, 1830.
CONGRESS.
In the Senate, yesterday, the bill for forming the Attorney General's office into an Executive Department, was debated and rejected. The bill for reorganizing the Navy, creating Admirals, &c. was, after considerable debate, rejected.
In the House the Bill relative to the Judge of the Orphans Court was read a third time and passed. The bill for incorporating the Alexandria Canal Company was also read a third time and passed by a vote of 115 to 72.
Mr. Mallary's bill for preventing frauds upon the revenue, was also passed and sent to the Senate.
The House then resolved itself into a Committee of the Whole on the state of the Union, Mr. Wickliffe in the Chair, and took up the bill concerning the removal of the Indians.
Mr. Bell spoke at length in favor of the bill, and was followed by Mr. Lumpkin, who, however, gave way to a motion to adjourn, and then the House adjourned.
